OK

[if i talk to you on a regular basis, we've probably had this conversation before]

You know what's wack?
The use of the word (or term... or acronym... whatever the hell it is) okay. I dunno. I just feel that when people use it, they don't care much about what I'm telling them. Like, they just wanna avoid having a conversation and play it off by saying "k" or "ok" or "okay" and whatever other version of it there is. The only reason I say that is because I know I use it when I don't really care.

I mean, it's okay [haha...] to use it when it's not in the context of someone telling you something that happened to them or something about themselves or when they're talking about something they like/dislike or just something random. I mean, imagine people used it a lot like that...

I dunno... in my view
OK / k / okay
=
I don't give a fuck.
I don't care.
Whatever [even worse when they say w/e instead of whatever...].

Times you shouldn't say it.

Person 1: You don't know how fucked up I feel right now...
Person 2: Ok

Person 1: I'm pregnant... =/
Person 2: k

Person 1: I was diagnosed with cervical cancer.. ='[.
Person 2: okay

Person 1: Omg! I love you! <333 I can't wait to get married! I'm so glad we're engaged!
Person 2: O. K.

The right time to use it:

Me: It is okay to use the word okay like this.

Person 1: I don't have any money >_<
Person 2: It's okay. I'll spot you. =]

Person 1: So, you wanna go out tomorrow?
Person 2: Okay. =D

Open Source

I'm not a millionare. I can't afford fancy computer programs. I don't wanna risk getting a virus when trying to download a crack or keygen for one.

There are some great computer programs out there made by big corporations that are commonly used. Microsoft has Word, PowerPoint and all that jazz. Adobe has their awesome Photoshop, Imageready, Illustrator, GoLive, and a shitload more that I love using.

The problem for users like me is... we can't afford them! This is why I decided to post a blog about it [not that many people read my blogs anyway...]. More people need to know about Open Source alternatives for those popular graphic/text/whatever editor programs.

I don't think I've ever had a registered copy of Microsoft Office on my computer since I've had one. I know others that don't as well. What do I use? OpenOffice. It's just as good and definitely gets the job(s) done. It comes with something similar to Microsoft Word, Exel, and whatever else Microsoft offers.

I've used and been in love with Adobe Photoshop and ImageReady since middle school. Unfortunately, I had to reformat my computer recently and lost all my .exe's. Thus, I downloaded The GIMP. Actually, I donwloaded GIMPshop, which is pretty much the same thing but the vocabulary changes for those who are more familiar with Adobe products. It's great. I like it.

School stuff

First period. Drafting with Mr. Laines. Pretty damn boring. I keep being later/absent to the class.

Second period. Honors Chemistry with Ms. Xavier. She's nice. But ugh, I'm getting a C in the class. I never liked Chemistry much...

Third period. They switched all the Humanitas kids out of Montes' class and back into Rocha's. Grr. A lot of us were pretty damn angry about it. I don't like Rocha. He's so fake and has some superiority complex, I swear. But yeah... He's just another typical Gardocki/Buchman style teacher. Y'know. The type that make you read something, and then answer questions or wrote about it. I always sucked at that stuff. What I liked about Montes was that he took a whole different approach to teaching, AND I got good scores on his assignments. He got kinda preachy about the whole oppression thing, but I didn't mind.

Fourth period. Bennet. AP Government. Ehh.

Fifth period. AP European history with Woessner. Yep. No band for 5th. Muahahaha.

Sixth period. Marching Dynamics. I only enrolled so I can get the PE credit I need to graduate =P.

Seventh period, I guess. Band practice. 4-8 on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

DCI, Brick, Band, School.

I haven't updated this in forever... Let's divide this into sections.

DCI World Championships
Unfortunately I didn't get to go on finals night. That really sucks because for the next 10 years, finals are gonna be in Indianapolis =/. I could've gotten a ticket too! Jasmine wasn't able to go and was gonna give me hers. I spent the day at my tia Rosa's with my family instead. Grr.
I did go to Quarterfinals, though. It was fun. I loved most of the shows. One of the corps played Imogen Heap. I forgot who, though... Like always, SCV's cymbal line fucking owned =D. I pretty much liked all the shows. Carolina Crown's was hilarious. Horses and William Tell Overture are like rofl. and Blue Devils <33!

I didn't have any money, so I couldn't get a t-shirt or anything :'[. I wanted a shirt really fucking badly. Ughh. But I did get free posters and stickers and stuff, haha.

We (zack, brittney, sope and i) left on Mr. Gray's car and he took us to King Taco. We had a chat about bums, random moments, and marching band. It was pretty tight. And the quesadilla thing I had a was pretty damn good. =P

Brick
So, I had left my stuff in the band room after band leadership interviews and went to Snack Stop to get stuff for Danny and Monkey. I ran across Gilbert on my way there and told him to go back with me, since he had nothing to do anyway. So we went back, gave Monkey and Danny their stuff, whatever. The drumline had late rehearsal that day. Band didn't, so the band room was empty because they were all practicing outside. Somehow... [THE REST OF THIS SECTION WAS OMITTED BY REINIX DUE TO... HER OWN STUPIDITY].

Marching Band
Gray hasn't announced it to the band, but he told us who the student leadership is (as though he hadn't made it obvious from the start...). Brittney's the drum major and Tiffany is assistant DM. I don't like that term... assistant. Makes it sound as if Tiff is Britt's bitch. If anything, it should be the other way around. Stupid faker bitch... Whatever. The Lance Majors are Tiffany, Zack and I (formerly known as captains). Josh and Manzo are the Horn Sergeants. They basically make sure everything in rehearsal goes by quickly and smoothly. IMO, they've been doing more on the field than the DM. Gilbert and Manzo are the Field Captains. They make sure the field is nicely done and set for our rehearsal. The prest of the leadership pretty much does that too, though. We have to get to camps an hour early to paint the yard lines and all that good stuff. The Technical Captains are Jocelyn and Alyssa. I'm still not sure what they do... stupid gray. Band leadership is fun, though. We're like our own section and stuff. Except none of us like to include Brittney most of the time =/. And for band camp, we all get to wear orange t-shirts. =D

The newbs are doing alright. There are a few that stick out, and you can tell they weren't there when we worked on basics and stuff. I've been working with the clarinets and they'be been improving a lot. I'm kinda proud of them. =] The flutes are pretty down too. I dunno about Jeniffer, but yeah. Let's hope she can hang. I don't want another hole on the field. ugh, the altos are lagging it >_<. But they're trying, so it's okay. Sometimes they get yelled at and stuff, but they have this drive that makes them want to get better and stay. That's really good. =]. I think the brass is doing all right for the most part. I haven't been observing them much.

School
I start school this Wednesday. What a bummer. I like not having a first period... Or a second period, for that matter. Most of my schedule is on track C. 1-3 are track A, and the rest is track C. I've been going to Mr. Bennett's AP government class, so i'm pretty much staying in that. I went to see my counselor and this is what my schedule's gonna be:
1. Drafting [i never took a tech art class =/]
2. Honors Chemistry [i failed first semester sophmore year...]
3. Advanced Comp. with Montes
4. AP Government and Politics with Bennett.
5. Band
6. Band
7. Band

So yeah, I have a feeling I'm gonna be missing first period a LOT. haha. I most likely wont know anyone in it... Or my second period. grr. Chemistry and drafting are sooo boring. I'm not gonna be a fucking architect or a fucking scientist... Oh well. Hopefully I'll like Montes. I heard he's a good teacher. =]]

Aren't we glad they fucked?

If JK Rowling's parents never fucked...

I wouldn't have been on harrypotter.com that ONE day when they posted a topic asking who had MSN messenger. If I wasn't online that day... I would have never started talking to Jacob. If I had never started talking to Jacob... I probably wouldn't be online as much or had anyone to tell all my crazy stories to.

If JK Rowling's parents never fucked...

GarfieldPercussion.com would not exist. I started learning to make websites because everyone had Harry Potter websites, so I became interested in web/graphic design. I got a freewebs account, learned photoshop, and BAM I made a (very amaturure-ish, cheapy) Harry Potter website. If I didn't learn all this stuff Joe would have never found out I know about making websites and wouldn't have asked me to make the drumline website. Of course, Jacob helped me a lot with this web stuff, but hey... I wouldn't have never talked to him if JK Rowling's parents never fucked...

If JK Rowling's parents never fucked...

I wouldn't have been on hpfzforums.com in the year 2004 because there would be no HP. If there were no hpfz forums I would have never started talking to Jasmine. If I hadn't started talking to Jasmine, I would have never met Ivan because I met him through her. If I had never started chatting with them, I would have never known Ivan was in band and wouldn't have met him. If I never met Ivan, no one would have ever reffered to him as my "boyfriend from AB Miller." If i had never met Jasmine and Ivan, I wouldn't have met a whole bunch of other new people from AB Miller at ADLA competitions. If I had never started talking to Ivan, I probably wouldn't have made as much fun of Elizabeth Ortiz, or started PMing and IMing Ryan H. Turner, haha. If me and Ivan had never met, he wouldn't have sent Goober that air gram at the La Sierra show.

If JK Rowling's parents never fucked...

I would've never had my first boyfriend in middle school. rofl. I was with him for like a day and a half. Okay, I admit I never really liked the guy to begin with... oh well. But yeah. I thought it was worth writing anyway.

Harry Potter: The End

So I finished the 7th and final book in the series last week and never got around to writing a blog about it.
No, this isn't a book review.
Just a reflection on what Harry Potter has done to my life.
I guess I should've waited til now to write the "If JK Rowling's Parents Never Fucked" blog.

It's odd seeing the series end just like that.
I mean, I'd been waiting years to find out how it ends and now that it's actually over I don't even know what to feel.
It's just weird that no one's ever gonna have conversations with "omg, what do you think's gonna happen to harry at the end?" and stuff like that.
No more crazy end-of-Harry-Potter theories, because we know everything that's happened now.

I'm glad that I (as a Harry Potter fan) was part of this generation.
Those future generations will never get to live through the excitement of midnight book release parties and all that good stuff.

Ew. I sound like such a geek, but yeah.
I sort of grew up with Harry Potter.

Even the movies give me that sort of feeling because we grow as the characters and actors do.
I remember when I was 11 years old and Daniel Radcliffe was 12.
I thought he was dayum hott.
If I look back at 12 year old Dan and think that way, I'd feel rather pedophilic.
Luckily we're human and grow at the same rate.
Now we're like... 5-6 years older than we were back then.

Humanitas beach trip

Sooo. Zack and I still weren't sure we were gonna go or not. He was on his way to my house and I was on my way to school around 1st period, so we ran into each other somewhere on Clela... Then Jonathan (garcia) passes by us in his car and gives us a ride back to my house. he chills there for a while with us 'til Ricky gets there. Everything changed ever since they broke up and all that crap. Whatever. Danny (de la rosa) and (little) Mayra got to my house later on. He was burning a CD on my computer er something. We eventually left after making a few phone calls to others asking at what time the bus would be leaving, so they could just follow it.

We ended up going to the beach in Danny's car. That ride was pretty fun. So we parked on the shore on 11th street, as told. Turns out, it was the wrong 11th street... go figure. Danny drove us all back to the others 11th street and we spent a couple hours at the beach. It was aight. We ate at this one local place over there; everyone was really nice. =]]. Gardocki and Rocha ate there too. =P. ummm. yeahh.

The word of the day was pan[ocha]. haha. Danny kept using it and stuff. Even Mayra [sorry i took long guys, i was taking the sand out of my pan!]. Oh, mayra saw her first penis [a .gif thing on a cell phone]. It was hilarious. She was all "THEY REALLY LOOK LIKE THAT?! DO THEY HAVE THAT CIRCLE THING? I DON'T WANT THAT IN MY PAN." rofl.

Fun times...

Band and colorguard banquet

So the banquet was on a friday. I was kinda bummed that I didn't buy a dress for it. Luckily, my sister Nery was at the house, so we went to the mall and bought me a green dress. yayy. Then we went all out and bought matching earrings and shoes for it. And a corset to hide my ugly lonjas. haha.

The banquet itself was fun fun fun. The food was awesome. I actually danced a lot =]]. Reina said I dance like a black girl. I didn't know if that was good or bad. She said it was a good thing. =P

They handed out the awards and blah blah blah. Haha, after Rudy, Joe and Courtney gave their speeches Mr. Gray was all like "I'll be short," i was like xD. Just like last year, Gilbert and I handled the slide show. It went pretty well, I think. I kinda liked last year's better. Oh well.

Oh, these boys...

They've changed me.
I'm pretty sure they know it too.

Gerard Zachary Mellini
[Zack]

The Past:
"Don't ever touch the hair" were the first words I ever heard him say. This was for the "gifted" block we had in sixth grade. I never really talked to him the rest of the year. Except that one time in Christmas, but I don't feel like telling that story right now. Let's just say it was partly the reason we weren't friends earlier.

I didn't start actually hanging out with him 'til second semester of the seventh grade, when I would pretty much only kick it with this girl Tonanzin. I guess you can say she and I were best friends at the time. Anyway, we started talking to Zack more and more. We had really retarded inside jokes (and still do to this day!) and the most random conversations ever. We still talked through eighth grade, but stopped hanging out with Tonanzin as much as we did once high school started.

Freshman and sophmore year came along. I told him things I didn't tell other people. I lost his trust at one point. I would get mad at him a lot. Others would question why I was still friends with him. I don't really know the answer to that. All I know is that I still am, and I'm glad we don't really get into arguments much.

The Present:
We're nearing our senior year in high school now. At this point, I have no idea where I'd be without him. I trust him with everything. I tell him everything. He tells me what he thinks. Positive, negative, or apathetic, I take everything he says into consideration. Haha, it's no wonder everyone ends every conversation with "Don't tell Zack!" Shiiit. We've shared soo many laughs had sooo many inside jokes and code names for people and events through the years. Ahhh. There isn't even a word do describe what I think of him. I could search the world and never find anyone quite like him.

Ricardo Jonathan Mejia
[Ricky]

The Past:
Seventh grade. Math class. To me he was just that loud guy with lots of confidence. To him I was just that girl that sat in the back and talked to herself. Eight grade. Didn't talk to him.

Freshman year, he was that guy Ricky that was always around and would never shut the hell up in second period. Beginning of sophmore year. Still didn't talk to him much. Still thought he was kind of annoying. Second semester I started to realize he was really funny and easy to get along with, unless you got on his bad side. He wanted to join a team of some sort. I lent him a copy of our championship drumline performance. He decided he'd join.

The Present:
When I was a freshman, I never would have thought I would start hanging out with this guy. Let alone, eat breakfast with him at my house all the time before school started. He's opened up a lot since I first started talking to him. I've noticed sooo much change in him. Change that I like. When something's wrong with him nowadays, I actually worry about him. When he's not in class, I actually miss him. I learned to trust him, as I'm pretty sure he trusts me too. We make each other laugh all the time (consequently, I acquired his loud, annoying laugh, ahahah). I'm so glad he joined drumline Junior year. Had he not, I probably wouldn't be writing his blog.

The Fire, The Boyfriend, The Beach

I was on my bed on satruday morning when I get a call from Ruben (a
fellow flute player) asking me if I'd seen the school. I asked what he
was talking about. He told me the main building caught fire. I walk
outside my house and see dark smoke not too far from my house. I ride
my scooter to Garfield to check it out. Turns out, the auditorium
caught fire. Soon enough, everyone's posting bulletins about it on
MySpace and the news is reporting it. I call Mr. Woessner to find out
what's going to happen and text Mr. Gray to tell him know what
happened. Woessner said the auditorium was left with no ceiling and the
main building was soaking because the sprinklers had set off. It was
very unfortunate that this had to happen. On the bright side, we'll
hopefully get a nicer auditorium with badass acoustics =].

Sunday
started off like every sunday of my life. Wake up, take a shower, go to
church, eat. Later in the day I went out with Luis to Monterey Park. He
bought me starbucks and we talked. We were sitting on a bench when he
asked me for his late birthday hug since I had told him I'd give him
one. I gave him a hug... and a kiss, which led to more kisses after
that. At one point, he said "so... do you like me? or do you always
kiss random guys like that?" I told him I didn't know. Because
honestly, I haven't liked most of the guys I've kissed, but it did kind
of like Luis. Anyway, he said something along the lines of... "well...
do you want to be some random girl to me? or do you want to be my
girlfriend?" I forgot what I answered... Ended up confused as to
whether we were actually together or not.

Because of the
auditorium incident, the administration decided to cancel school on
monday. The scene of the fire was under investigation and still trying
to be fixed. Therefore, some of us humanitas kids decided to go to the
beach that day. It was pretty down, i guess. haha. Ah, the van ride
back. [A FEW SENTENCES WERE OMITTED HERE. DON'T ASK]. I was laying with my head on
his shoulder/chest most of the time and Ricky and Zack [thinking i was
official with Luis] thought I was being a slut =[. But whatever... I
still wasn't sure about Luis. =/

But yeah... I'm officially with Luis now. =]
No more bricks. Woot.

A new year.

This is my first post of 2007. =]
I might as well talk about new years' eve.
It was pretty coo'.
I spent it with Nery, Chava, Ricky, Christina and my Grandma. hehe.
We mean bought stuff to munch on. Cheese, chips, sodas, peanuts, other random crap.
My Grandma cooked some posole. It was pretty good.
Oooh. We also made margaritas. They were aight.
Yeah... there's not much else to say about that...

I really SHOULD be reading The Red Badge of Courage or doing a history outline...

Off-Trackness

The past week was pretty fun, I think. I kicked it with Zack, Alberta, Ricky (Mejia), Jose and Jonathan (Garcia). Mario (dline) and Liz (clarinet) here once too, actually. Wow, I wish I didn't know so many people with the same names... Then I wouldn't have to add their last names...or instruments. Haha, we went to pick up Zack (to his house) in Jonathan's car once... there was no space in the car... Jose ended up riding the trunk. It was pretty funny, lol. Dude. I was all up on Jonathan that day... Weird. I didn't even notice til after. I don't like him as more than a friend though...
It was Alberta's birthday on friday. We made her a cake and stuff at my house. Ricky cooked some chicken strip thingies from my freezer too. Hehe. yeah.... it was pretty fun. We made a mess in the kitchen and dining room, though.

The Pursuit of Happyness

It was a pretty good movie. It was sad and cute at the same time, idk. I think I just thought it was cute 'cause I thought Will Smith's son was the most ADORABLE thing in the world. He made me want to give birth to and raise a little black kid. hehe.
